The music styles featured on "Aspects" are drumfunk, ambient, and ambient dub.
Comprised of demos sent to PCMS over the last year, Pinecone Moonshine's Aspects continues where 2022's Facets left off - showing many sides or methods to rhythm in the PCMS style. Building the album was a process of selecting tracks that progressed well while showing variety.
And so Aspects covers a range of approaches to drum and bass rhythm. Similar musical keys and ambient backdrops connect the tracks. Long-time PCMS contributor Fushara starts the album off with his signature, natural sounding drum kits. Healing Force Project and Dot Notation lean into chopping breakbeats. Brad Impact's Do or Die sits somewhere between drumfunk and techstep. Kop-Z melds a techno 4/4 approach with 170 bpm. Jiva and Kodama (Acid Lab) both use synthetic percussion with Kodama going so minimal that the LP ends with rhythmic ambient music.
